How to Choose a Belt Holster or Phone Pouch

Questions to ask before buying

How do I measure a phone for a belt holster?

Check the phone's height, width and thickness. If you already use a protective cover, measure the phone with that cover fitted. Compare all three measurements against the internal dimensions specified for the particular pouch; allow room for the closure.

Horizontal or vertical holster: which is better?

Horizontal pouches place the long side along the belt and may be comfortable when seated. Vertical pouches place the long side upright and can occupy less horizontal belt space. The right orientation depends on your movement and access preference.

What is the difference between a belt clip and a belt loop?

A clip attaches without threading the belt through the holder, but the clip and belt must be suitable for each other. A loop typically requires passing the belt through and may feel more secure for some uses. Check the attachment in the actual listing.

Is magnetic closure better than hook-and-loop?

A magnetic closure can be convenient for frequent opening; hook-and-loop can offer adjustable closure in some designs. Check the product's material, closing mechanism and suitability for your activity; neither option is universally best.

Can I carry a rugged phone or a phone with a thick case?

Possibly, if the actual external dimensions fit. Rugged models and extra covers can be much thicker than standard phones, so match measurements rather than screen size alone.
